Moi Namaste started as an idea at Pukhraj & Iiro's wedding. In some Indian cultures, it is common practice to give gifts to all the attendees at the wedding. A means to brag about one's family wealth, Pukhraj and Iiro didn't want to turn this custom into a boasting moment. Instead, they decided to use their gift budget to support two local self-help groups that work with mothers to create handmade products, therefore creating sustainable employment for these women..

The idea was well-received and commended by all guests, Indian and international.

On the suggestion of many Finnish guests, Pukhraj & Iiro started exploring ways to bring "India" to Finland.

And with that, Moi Namaste was born.

We, at Moi Namaste, don't intend to start things of our own. Instead, we support existing impactful groups and craft communities that care for the people they employ as well as their impact on the planet. Our intentions include

- Encouraging and celebrating our artisan's authentic crafts and stories

- Empowering them to up-skill themselves and financially support their families and communities

- Enabling them to share their craft with a global audience
